Don't Feel Good Enough? Remember These 3 Things

If you don’t feel good enough, no matter what you do it can feel discouraging and all-consuming. Learn three things to help when you don’t feel good enough.

Have you ever had that feeling where you just don’t feel good enough, no matter what you do? It can be very discouraging and hard to come out of. You can easily let the feeling of not being good enough to consume you. Below are three things you need to remember when you don’t feel good enough.

Three Things to Remember When You Don't Feel Good Enough

1. Remember your good qualities when you don’t feel good enough.

We all have good qualities, no matter what. Even though you may be focusing on something that you feel you did wrong, there are still things that make you amazing. Take out a piece of paper, and list as many reasons you are amazing as you can. It can be as simple as a characteristic, such as being friendly, to a good deed you have done. Just go until you become tired of writing ("How to Identify Your Good Qualities When You Feel Worthless").

2. When you already don’t feel good enough, comparing yourself to others will make you feel worse.

It is so easy to forget the good qualities we have when we start playing the comparison game. Remember, you cannot hate yourself to love. You must love who you are, wherever you are. When you compare yourself to others, you will feel defeated. When you work on bettering yourself and only compare yourself to you, it becomes empowering.

3. If you do not feel good enough, remember where you are going while being happy with where you are.

It is okay if you are not happy with your current circumstances, traits, struggles, etc. Do your best, however, to not let it consume you and hold you back. Instead, use it as motivation to make baby steps in the right direction. If self-worth is something you struggle with, accept where you are but then look up resources that will help you overcome it ("Four Steps to Improved Self-Esteem"). Write affirmations on your mirror, journal daily, read empowering books and continue to try things until something sticks. No matter where you are, you do have the power to move forward.

There are times when I don’t feel good enough. No matter how much I progress in my mental health journey, it happens. Remembering these three things have really helped me get out of that negative space faster so that I can move into the direction I desire. When you don’t feel good enough, I encourage you to remember these things as well.

Thank you for these wonderful reminders! We all have moments where we feel less than great. When we aren't feeling good we can easily spiral deeper into it, but if take a moment to remember our good qualities and stop the comparison train we can stop the spiral and get back to good.
