Introduction to Britt Mahrer, Author of 'Building Self-Esteem'
My name is Britt Mahrer, I’m a new blogger at HealthyPlace. I’ll be writing on Building Self-Esteem. This is a topic I’m passionate about and eager to explore. My own self-esteem exploration has taken me many unexpected places, including living as a monk in Thailand, musically directing a Broadway workshop, founding a non-profit organization, dancing and singing on a piano, teaching yoga and circus acrobatics, and fighting mixed martial arts (MMA). My journey with self-esteem also taken me to some dark, miserable places I never thought I would escape. Needless to say, I have experienced many successes in my life and lived through many failures.
I believe self-esteem develops from not only learning to love yourself but also from learning to laugh at yourself. We all have parts of ourselves that we want and parts we don’t want. The trick is learning to recognize both and having the courage to be imperfect.
Britt Mahrer's Goals for 'Building Self-Esteem'
Self-esteem is not something we achieve overnight, from reading the next popular self-help book, or by succeeding at everything we do. It is something that we grow. Seeds of belief we plant within ourselves and nurture over time. My goal for Building Self-Esteem is to provide you with many different seeds; some may work for you, and some may not. You have the power to choose which you will try.
