Daily Affirmations Help Me Heal from Verbal Abuse
Healing from a verbally abusive situation will be a unique journey for everyone. One person's strategies may not be successful for someone else. Finding the right tools to deal with the side effects of abuse can be challenging. Thankfully, I have several methods to help combat my self-doubt and reinforce my worth, including strategies like daily affirmations for verbal abuse.
Daily Affirmations to Combat Low Self-Esteem from Verbal Abuse
When I began my healing journey, my self-esteem was at its lowest point. My years of exposure to verbal abuse tainted how I viewed my worth. Unfortunately, my situation is not uncommon, and many individuals face similar circumstances.
One of my original therapists brought daily affirmations into my treatment plan, hoping it would help me recover and heal from verbal abuse. In the beginning, I was reluctant to incorporate these positive messages into my daily life. I was unaware of how powerful these simple statements could be.
It can be difficult to implement a strategy when you cannot see the immediate benefit. But after continuing my healing journey, I soon realized that there is a place for positive affirmations to help me recover and move away from verbal abuse side effects.
Positive Affirmations Worked for My Healing Journey from Verbal Abuse
Of course, you can find dozens of positive messages with the click of a button and access to the Internet. While some daily affirmations are similar, others can be more tailored to suit your circumstances. Although I did get my first examples from a therapist, I began to collect positive messages through my daily life to add to my collection.
Some of the more prominent daily affirmations that I still reflect on and use today include:
- I am safe.
- I am loved.
- I am worthy.
- I can make the best decision for myself.
- I am perfect, just how I am.
- I deserve love and respect.
- My abusive past doesn't define who I am.
- Each day is an opportunity for a new beginning.
- I deserve to be happy.
- Today, I am enough, just as I am.
If you are battling the negative effects of verbal abuse even after leaving the situation, incorporating daily affirmations for verbal abuse may help. Now, not every technique will work for every person, but I slowly saw how my internal dialogue began to change once I started using these positive messages in everyday life.
