Video on My Body Dysmorphic Disorder Story

A video on a personal story of obsessive compulsion and body dysmorphic disorders.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and Obsessive Compulsive (OCD) are anxiety disorders. Body dysmorphia is where someone is excessively concerned and preoccupied by a perceived defect, real or imaginary, in the person's physical features. Rebecca is a 27-year-old bright woman, who writes medical literature. She started experiencing OCD symptoms at age 7. By the time she was 22, OCD took her to a point where she was unable to leave her home. Once in therapy for her OCD, body dysmorphic disorder symptoms were recognized.

Rebecca talked to HealthyPlace Mental Health TV about her experience with BDD. Unfortunately, Rebecca's video is no longer available. In it's place, enjoy Believing is seeing: a new perspective on body dysmorphia with Meredith Leston from TEDxOxford.
