Bipolar Disorder and Eating Disorders

Bipolar disorder and eating disorders are usually talked about separately. However, it's not unusual for people with bipolar disorder to develop an eating disorder. In this video, I open up about my bulimia and its impact on my life with bipolar 2 disorder.

I was nine years old when I started to develop a negative body image, which molded itself into an eating disorder known as bulimia. It was on and off again for over a decade, but as the symptoms of bipolar disorder began to surface in my late teens, my eating disorder came back in full force. Shortly after starting treatment for bipolar 2 disorder, it ended.

Although it has been five years since my last episode, I still struggle with connecting mind to body. My body is the punching bag for my bipolar disorder, but I am trying to change this unhealthy habit. It is one of my primary mental health goals this year.

Have you struggled with an eating disorder? How do you cope? Please share your experience in the comment section or do a response video and send it in to info@healthyplace.com. See you next week! Thanks!
