I strongly recommend the book, When a Stranger Calls You Mom by Katharine Leslie,Ph.D. Read this book if you live or work with abused and neglected children, foster and/or adopted children. Find out why traumatized children think, feel, and act the way they do. Dr. Leslie has personal experience in this area with five children, 4 adopted and 1 foster child. The book is available here.

This book gives parents and teachers an absolutely clear understanding of how a challenging child really responds to normal ways of parenting and why traditional methods actually make the situation worse.
