Video on Diabetes and Mental Health Issues
Diabetes and mental health concerns are close related, since 1 out of 5 people with a mental illness also ends up with type 2 diabetes as a result of lack of exercise, poor eating choices, and antipsychotic medications that can cause serious weight gain. Additionally, people with diabetes may develop depression and anxiety as a result of coping with a chronic illness. Bill Woods, our guest on the HealthyPlace Mental Health TV Show, talks about his experience with Type 1 diabetes and the complications he has found along the way.
