The signs and symptoms of bipolar 2 disorder were present in my life prior to my diagnosis but I ignored them. Why? I was unaware that these were symptoms of a mental illness. Mental health was never discussed in my school, with friends or brought up in my surroundings. So when the symptoms and signs of bipolar disorder surfaced, I thought they would eventually go away.
