QUESTION:
Dear Dr. Heller,
I seem to go through life one day totally happy, the next, I can't even look at myself in the mirror, I am always prepared for the worst to happen. And I am very insecure, so much that I chase people close to me away. I have recently found someone who completely adores me, but, I am always second guessing his feelings, I always ask myself, "Why would he love me?", I don't even love me. Can you help?
ANSWER:
Yes! You'll have to go about things differently, however. As Zig Ziglar says "if you keep on doing what you've been doing, you're going a keep on getting what you've been getting."
I would recommend that you:
- Do the screening test ASAP, then find out about your actual diagnoses, and get them treated properly.
- Download the bottom section of the affirmations, putting your name at the top and start reading it out loud twice daily
- Get Ziglar's How to Stay Motivated Tape Series
- Read the books I recommended in the Retraining the Brain section, particularly "Embraced By the Light" by Betty Eadie, "Happiness is a Choice" by Barry Neil Kaufman, "Your Erroneous Zones" by Wayne Dyer, "Looking Out for Number One" by Robert Ringer and "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie.
