QUESTION:

Hello, I am writing to you on behalf of someone who has contacted my online ministry about a month ago. She is a sexual abuse survivor who I am almost certain has MPD or Disassociation disorder. I am not a professional just a friend. She has came to be very dependant on me and I don’t mind this. I am very close to her. However I am at a loss as to what to say to her that might help her to see she needs more help than I can give to her. We have been in touch daily for this entire month. I have not mentioned to her what my fears and thoughts are concerning her mental health. And I know that if I pulled out of her life it would be devastating to her. Could you advise?

DR. HELLER'S ANSWER:

She most likely has the BPD. I recommend printing that book's front cover for her to look at.

We're very fortunate to live in an age where medical help is now available. She needs to want help, and the good news is she can do very well. The Lord helps those who help themselves.
