QUESTION:
Dear Dr. Heller,
I am curious as to what role the soul might play with regards to mental illness.
DR. HELLER'S ANSWER:
I believe we are a three faceted being: Mind, body and spirit. All three must be in good shape for a great life.
Traumatic events occur throughout life, and one's spiritual beliefs are the keys to overcoming those obstacles.
I believe the soul is one's spiritual side. Mental illness generally affects the body and mind part. Once they are doing better, the individual needs to allow their soul to be confident and happy, and guide life.
Books I often recommend to patients in this regard are: "Embraced By the Light" by Betty Eadie "Transformed by the Light" by Dr. Melvin Morse "Happiness is a Choice" by Barry Neil Kaufman "Your Sacred Self" by Wayne Dyer
