Can a Childhood Head Injury Cause the BPD?
QUESTION:
My daughter has been diagnosed with BPD. When she was 8 wks old, she slid out of her pram and fell flat on the ground hitting the back of her head. Could this fall contribute to BPD?
DR. HELLER'S ANSWER:
It's unlikely but possible. Head injuries are common in those with the BPD, although there are usually additional factors and/or multiple head injuries. Untreated or undertreated ADHD is a common cause of the BPD.
