QUESTION:

I have been diagnosed with BPD and depression in the past and am currently on 10mg daily, of Paxil. I was in therapy for 2 years and I have been out of therapy for about 1 and a half years now.

In the past 3 months, I have moved to a new town, started a new job, and moved in with a roommate (have never lived with anyone else but family.) I am starting to feel depression again and wondering if I made too many changes too fast. I am seriously thinking about going back to my old town, quitting my job, and telling my roommate goodbye. I am starting to have incredible feelings of loneliness again. I am feeling overwhelmed!

DR. HELLER'S ANSWER:

Stress is never a good thing for individuals with the BPD, and you may have over done it - particularly if you don't have medication to also use under stress. There aren't many people - with or without the BPD - who wouldn't feel overwhelmed by those changes.

Like everyone else you need all your diagnoses made and treated, and you need to like and love yourself thoroughly.
