I haven't read any data on exclusively this topic. What's clear is that trauma of any kind causes problems, and good of any kind is helpful. Fathers can be extremely supportive or very damaging, just as the mother. I believe any and all traumas have the risk of permanent damage to the child.

Some children do well even with abusive and/or dysfunctional parents, however, so there are no absolutes in this regard.

One mental health authority stated than in all his years of practice he had never encountered anyone with a sexual dysfunction who had a kind, loving father.

The best gift one can give to a child is a happy, healthy parent.
