QUESTION:

I have a very close friend who suffers from BPD and has been in an institution for over 9 months. Just when she’s getting better they mess with her meds or move her around, tell her she’s getting out and then send her away again causing her to lose hope and fall backwards. She has even been taken advantage of sexually by residents AND staff more than ounce, quite a few times. They offer no care regarding BPD and expect to help her with tons of meds that are constantly changing or getting stronger, and traditional treatments, which we both no doesn’t help borderline. Recently things have gotten really bad and she has made some serious attempts at taking her own life. I to suffer from BPD but not to the same extent and am appealed at the treatment she has gotten. Its seems if your not rich your expected to spend your whole life without any help or chance at really getting better, and the places they put you are scarier than One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. I can't sit by and wash her slip away while the system doesn’t care, is there any hope of getting her the help she needs or should I just put a coffin on layaway and wait?
