  • Parents Need Vacations from Kids

Dr. Paul Wender, noted research psychiatrist, offers this advice to parents dealing with a difficult child.

  • Personal Time for Parents is a Necessity

Parents who take care of their personal needs are happier, healthier, and better at meeting the needs of their children than parents who consistently sacrifice themselves for their kids.

  • Parents have Rights, Too

Children have no sense of where their rights end and parents rights begin. This combination can be disastrous for families. Parents often take all they can stand, then blow-up at the child and feel guilty afterwards. This is unhealthy and unnecessary.

  • Even Nice Parents Get Angry

Parents can learn to think even when angry and teach their children by example. The goal is to learn to express anger in responsible ways.

  • Down Loose Attitude toward Housework

Housework can expand to fill all the time available. We can't change the never ending chores, but we can change our perspective and adjust our standards.

  • Dr. Paul Wender, M.D --Vacation for Parents

Quote from Dr. Wender's book, ADHD in Children, Adolescents, and Adults.

  • War Stories

    - Humorous stories contributed from other folks on the Parenting Frontlines. Sometimes, all we can do is keep going. If we are lucky, we can look back and see the humor involved. A good laugh is great medicine.
