Wet Outdoor Games: A few suggestions for what to do with the young children midway through summer vacation.
- Storm
This is a game with the water sprinkler. Turn on the sprinkler low. One person stands by the faucet. Everyone else is a ship at sea. Small, old towels are placed around the sprinkler -- one less than the "ships". The ships start by sailing around the sprinkler. When the faucet person yells "STORM", all the ships try to get to a towel island. The one left out at sea becomes the next faucet-person.
- Empty the Bucket
This is a race requiring each player to empty a bucket with a sponge. On the word "go", each person dunks his or her sponge and squeezes it over their own head. The person to empty their bucket first by dunking and squeezing wins.
- On your mark, get wet, dress!
This game requires four pieces of old clothing and a bucket of water for each contestant. The clothing is dunked in the water and the race is to see who can get wet-dressed first.
- Heads Up
This is a race requiring only a paper cup full of water for each person. The cups are balanced on top of the head and the race begins.
