  • Postpartum Depression
  • "Surviving Postpartum Depression" On HealthyPlace TV

Postpartum Depression

You may have seen the headlines in the news:

  • Postpartum Psychosis to Blame for Murdered Houston Children?
  • Baby Dies After Mother Allegedly Severs Arms. Postpartum Depression Blamed

The headlines call our attention to the extreme cases of postpartum depression, but ten percent or more of the mothers in this country suffer through the "normal," extremely troubling symptoms of postpartum depression after giving birth. Mood swings, sadness, anxiety, insomnia, feelings of shame, guilt or inadequacy and difficulty bonding with the baby are part of postpartum depression.

There is hope, however. Read more about who's at risk of PPD and treatment for postpartum depression.

"Surviving Postpartum Depression" On HealthyPlace TV

Not one, but two postpartum depressions sent Dr. Shoshana Bennett into a life-threatening tailspin. How this psychologist, author and postpartum advocate came out of it is the topic of Tuesday's HealthyPlace Mental Health TV Show.

Join us Tuesday, October 27, at 5:30p PT, 7:30 CST, 8:30 EST. The show airs live on our website. Dr. Bennett will be taking your questions during the live show.

In the second half of the show, you get to ask HealthyPlace.com Medical Director, Dr. Harry Croft, your personal mental health questions.
