Parents Wary of Antidepressants for Kids

"Increase in Sex Thoughts"

Amy:

"I don't know why, but lately (ok, for awhile now), I have constantly been thinking about sex. It's kind of like the racing thoughts that I used to have with my mania, except now it's just about sex, and not random thoughts as it was before. I don't think that it has anything to do with the meds that I'm on (lamictal and effexor XR for bipolar II). It's almost like I'm going through puberty all over again or something. I haven't really told anyone about this...and I'm kind of afraid. Before I was diagnosed, I kept everything held in for years, giving the appearance of "happiness" and "normality." I'm also afraid that I'll go on some kind of rampage and start sleeping with or doing anything with anyone, anywhere. Anyone ever feel the same way or have any suggestions?"

Can you help Amy? Respond here.
