"Green" Exercise for Depression

Two recent studies conducted in the UK report that exercise in a green environment may be the best remedy for depression. In response to the high cost of drugs, the rise in prescriptions and the fact that 93 percent of GPs reported that “they have prescribed antidepressants against their better judgment owing to a lack of alternatives,” the studies found that “participating in green exercise activities provides substantial benefits for health and wellbeing.” The “green activities” included gardening, walking, running and bicycling, particularly in a “green” environment.

"How Do You React To A Paranoid Person?"

daisylee:

I've been having a lot of trouble with my 33 year old son,who is suffering from paranoia.

How do you cope with this attitude, especially when they are being nasty, inventing things that don't exist and blowing things all out of proportion, even everyday events.

He has suffered from this for a long time, and recently he lost his job of many, many years through abuse to his colleagues and not being able to cope. Because of this stress, this illness has raised it's ugly head again and I'm at a loss as to how to cope with it. I've never coped in the past as such, but just let it run its course. This time, I really need someone's help as to what to do.

Any replies will be received with thanks.

Something to think about...

"Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?"
- Mary Manin Morrissey
