When Does A Diet Become An Eating Disorder?

pennyann25:

I started out petite, little, cute, small, thin. It was a trait people constantly remarked on. I depended on it quite a bit as far as my self esteem went. I didn't have much self confidence but at least I was small, cute, petite. I didn't realize how much I relied on this until I had a lengthy illness, which, along with the medication, left me fatter and fatter as time went on. I started exercising, I wouldn't say excessively, but I also started cutting my calories quite a bit. It seems that as soon as 1200 calories a day seemed comfortable and reasonable, 800 seemed even more comfortable and reasonable. It has been a year and I average 500-600 calories a day.  So, when is it no longer dieting and has become a disorder?
