School

School

Last night my daughter and I had a discussion about her actions for the past week and 5 days. She attempted school for 2 of them and have not returned due to either not sleeping well because of nightmares plus last week ashe had a terrible cold. During this time we tried her on one type of sleeping medication, which did not work. This week we are trying her on another type. I do understand that it takes time for medication to kick in. i also understand when your sleep deprived it can cause a psychotic event. She also letted me know finally what I was feeling is she does not want to go to school. Fear of having an event, and being embarassed by her school mates. She asked me if the doctors, me could guarentee that she won't have one. I guess I can't, until we know her meds are what fits her.
Home schooling is not the answer, due to the fact she needs to stay socialized instead of a hermit.
She does not go to school until 9am and leaves @ 2:40 with the rest of the school. She feels that there are not any other kids like her, I have letted her know there is she wants to meet them.
How more can I help her?

Re: School

Well I guess its natural that she doesn't want to go to school. It's scary that people might judge and wont accept you, because you're different. I don't what is the right thing to do, but I do know that school may be very stressfull. Is there a possibility for her to take a time out of school?

Re: School

She has had a brake from school, her homework has been minimilized as well. I also go to school with her at her request to keep her safe. She is getting behind. I will need to bring her work home and get done here at the house but she just does not care. She wants me to let it go but i cannot and I have explained all the reasons to her.

Re: School

Why don't you enroll her to a therapeutic school , I mean not all children with mental illness or behavior problem are required or can enroll there sometimes children who is in a situational crisis such as anxiety or sleeping problem can be accepted there. Its good because they are trained professionals who will assist our children in whatever individualized problems they got. In addition to that they will be able to monitor her activities and academic performances, which would make it easier to point out the root problem and in return will enable them to accurately address the problem and help her solve it.
