Let's call him "Mark"
Let's call him "Mark"
Let's call him "Mark". I have known Mark for over 7 years. I always thought he was a good friend, until he showed and admitted to me that he did heroin. He asked me a little over 2 years ago if I wanted to try it. Seeing the small bag and needle kind of excited me and gave me a hopeful rush. It's hard to say no to Mark. I agreed thinking it would be a one time thing. It felt amazing and wonderful and I was on cloud 10, but I never expected to do it again. Mark had some more the next couple of days and I ignorantly joined in.
The point of this story is now....2 years later....I'm a full blown dope addict and "Mark" left town to go live with his new girlfriend a couple of months ago. I'm left buying my own needles, dope, and everything else. It's hard, but I am slowly getting out of it. I started attending NA meetings, taking medication to help detox, and just trying to rekindle my relationship with god. I'm taking the steps, but the road is more difficult than anything I have ever done. I have had relapse over relapse the past couple of months, but I'm happy to say that I have been clean for 3 weeks now and I don't think ANYTHING can stop me. Here's to hoping!
Re: Let's call him "Mark"
Hey there, I am an addict in remission. I used crack cocaine, pills, hash, was a full blown alcholic for 17 years and I have been clean for 6. It can be done. I was told that having a concurrent disorder crack addiction/Bipolar disorder/PTSD that my odds of recovery where about 1% lol I have been clean for 6 years. You can do it !! You just have to want to do it. You cannot blame this other person for using..You would have run into is some other way..Your FIRST step to recovery is taking responsibility for your own actions. Move on, you can not move forward if you live in the past. That is very very important !!!
Here if you ever need to talk
Sincerely,
Erika
Re: Let's call him "Mark"
Congrats on your clean time. I was also a heroin addict for many years. I went to numerous 30 day inpatient rehabs and would get out and go right back to using. Finally my family did an intervention and I went to a 6 month treatment facility. It worked and I have been clean since November 21, 2005. I thank God daily for my sobriety. I firmly believe that if I would not have gone to long term treatment I would be dead. There is a better way of life and I wish that for you. you can have peace and happiness. I am here if you ever need to talk.
