Some people like to run to relieve stress, while others find solace in a book or good conversation. Here are some of the things that have helped fellow and past sufferers of eating disorders.

From: sushijunkie
Things that have helped me are:
MUSIC: Listening to whatever feels right for the mood (I have over 700 Napster files :-)
ART: I am an art teacher with kids, and it's a lifesaver to know that what i do is meaningful to the lives of others.
FRIENDS: Need I say more about a truly understanding, funny, caring handful of people?
A GOOD SHRINK: I am on medication for depression and anxiety... some meds work, then they stop.. It's always a dance of sorts with that, but I resisted meds for toooooo long and paid the price.
LONG WALKS: In any kind of weather, with or without music...
BOOKS: Have literally saved my life. Alan Watts and countless others.. not only self help books; did them in my 20's, now i read humor or whatever is interesting. Biographies of artists, fiction, history, eastern philosophy, outsider art, on and on...
HYPNOSIS: It really works if you listen to the tapes at bedtime. I wrote my own suggestions and had a hypnotist make a tape. You can do it for yourself...
