Stories of Gay Teen Suicide
Suicide is a tough topic to talk about. That's why many people don't talk
about it.
One of the myths about
suicide is: if you ask someone about their suicidal intentions, you will
only encourage them to kill themselves. Actually, the opposite is true. Asking
someone directly about their suicidal intentions will often lower their anxiety
level and act as a deterrent to suicidal behavior by encouraging the
ventilation of pent-up emotions through a frank discussion of his problems.
There are 3 types of suicide stories on this site:
- I Live ! These are stories of those who
survived a suicide attempt.
- Left Behind. Stories and letters from
parents, relatives, and close friends of those gay teens who committed suicide.
- A Price Too High. News articles,
obituaries and other accounts of gay teenagers who committed suicide.
We are looking for survivors of suicide attempts. You have lived through the
attempt and can share a first-hand account of what your thoughts and
experiences were/are. Please give us your help. Tell us your story, how you
pulled through, and how you accomodated the emotional pain that you felt or may
still be feeling.
If you are a parent, sibling, or close friend of a gay teen who either did
or did not survive a suicide attempt, we would appreciate your story too. Write
to eric@healthyplace.com
