February 11, 2000 -- 5:11 PM ESTI had such a nice day today! After I popped in at the office I went to Whole Foods for fast veggie sushi for lunch and then to gym at my old gym. So this is like the mother Bally's of the city, and of course it has more money, more classes, more stuff, better maintenance. I was only a few minutes late for water aerobics. Damn. If I had known I would have packed a suit this morning in my gym bag. That would have been easy on my foot. The new class schedules are up and everything is rearranged again! Did all my weights, not one machine was out of order. YEAH! Then I went upstairs for light cardio and I was thinking instead of treadmilling I'd do the elliptical cross trainer because it is nicer to my joints. My ankle, while happier, is still weakish. Surprise! Well, how about that -- they have three new elliptical trainers, which means the old ones are being phased out. They also had new bikes. Awright!
So yeah, definitely helps when the equipment is ship-shape and the environment is making you happy. The Bally's nearer to my house is pretty "eh" in that department. Maybe that is another reason why I had my holiday anti-gym snit? Secretly hating my new gym? So far I've seen them cycle through the old beige line, the gray line, and now I guess we are moving to this pewter line at Mother Bally's. That means Daughter Bally's (mine and the other one on the other side of town) will go through the changes sometime soon too. Maybe that's why they haven't been in a hurry to repair the machines -- new ones are coming. Excellent. I hope so! Next time, I will try the new bikes. Crossing fingers for good seats! Never in my life have I ever had any desire to look at LifeFitness stuff, but I went today just to see what their website is like and what other cool new equipment might be coming to my gym. It just felt sooooo good to be on new equipment! I still think I miss living in Winter Park. Ok, so the house is great, future kids will have plenty of space, the iguanas have plenty of space, we like it, but man do I miss the sushi, Whole Foods, the better gym, the little boutiques, the bookstores, the independent theater, all kinds of stuff. I suppose when I don't telecommute and I actually have to be live in person at the office I could do my gym stuff at the old gym? That would definitely be a bonus. The other bonus is that the office is moving to the heart of Winter Park instead of the edges. Oh, yeah! Too groovy! I am slowly turning into a yuppie. This makes me laugh. Meanwhile, Mom is coming over because she said she is bringing me food (go, Mom! Save me some cooking!) and that she bought me a surprise. Bet it is a rice cooker. Bet she got another one for Karen. Both me and Karen have been obsessing because neither of us can find the kind of rice cooker we both want -- nonstick liner, NOT aluminum. Mom told us to just stop looking and she'd track it down. For all I know she called her sister in Hong Kong and had her ship them! I wounder if I could ask my cousin in Japan if there are any Hello Kitty rice cookers? Mmmmmm! If it isn't a rice cooker, it's still really nice of her to buy me any kind of surprise. Jeez, just deciding to spare me having to make dinner tonight is stellar enough of a surprise! But now I am all hyper and curious and I want to know what it is. Pot holders? New chopsticks? What's a sort of a "Mom" surprise? A new pot for my flowers? A sweater? Candles? Socks? My mommy can be so cool sometimes. Yay. Little weird, but cool. :) Update -- 6:49 PMParents dropped off stuff and Paul walks in 15 minutes later and we open up the manila wrapped box. Dad had stuck all these little heart stickers on it and they said it was a Valentine's present for fun. It was a rice cooker! I have a rice cooker, I have a rice cooker! Nice big 6-cup capacity one! White with pink flowers on the sides and I really love that the cord is retractable. Little spatula thingie, non-stick interior. Yaaaaaay! Do I know my mom or what?! ~Astrophe Planned Fitness:
