Many law enforcement departments will do a home security check for free, if you request it. REMEMBER, IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW GOOD THE SECURITY CHECK IS UNLESS YOU MAKE THE CHANGES NEEDED.

Locksmiths will install two deadbolts and a peephole for about $85.

Dowels to put in the sliding tray of a patio door and most windows cost about $.50 .

Each dowel can be cut to fit with a table knife.

You may want to paint the dowel the color of the tray and add a string or tape around the center for easy removal.

Security sprays, decals, and alarms are available from Radio Shack, KMart and similar stores.
