Is Your Thyroid Robbing You of Your Sex Life?

(February 19, 2006) -- You probably know that a thyroid problem can lead
to weight gain, fatigue,
depression,
and a multitude of other symptoms, but did you know it can cause men
problems in the bedroom? According to a recent Italian study, it turns out
that
erectile dysfunction (ED),
decreased sexual desire, and both
premature and delayed ejaculation can be caused by hypothyroidism (underactive
thyroid) or hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid).
The study, conducted by Dr. Emmanuele A. Jannini and associates at the
University of L’Aquila in Italy, observed men with thyroid conditions,
noting their sexual complications before treatment. The researchers then
re-evaluated the problems after the patients received treatment for their
thyroid conditions. Jannini’s recommendation after the study? All men with
underactive or overactive thyroid “must be evaluated for their sexual
function.”
Here’s what they found: before treatment, 64 percent of the men with
underactive thyroid showed problems with low libido, delayed ejaculation,
and ED, each of which disappeared or significantly decreased with thyroid
treatment. In the men with the opposite problem, overactive thyroid, over
half had ED, while smaller percentages suffered from low sexual desire,
delayed ejaculation, and/or premature ejaculation. After these men were
treated for their thyroid condition, premature ejaculation decreased by
almost 30 percent, and the other symptoms resolved in most of the men.
According to Selmedica Healthcare of Memphis, TN, men who
experience sexual dysfunction should consider getting treatment for their
thyroid condition; for underactive thyroid they offer Alvidar, an
all-natural blend of potent botanical ingredients. The company asserts that
Alvidar will help to repair, improve, and re-program the thyroid gland to
run in high gear, without any harsh chemicals or severe side effects.
Selmedica Healthcare CEO Perry Belcher says, “With a little help from
Alvidar, underactive thyroid doesn’t have to stand in the way of coital
bliss.”
