Convuls Ther 1995 Sep;11(3):192-201
Author(s): Durr AL; Golden RN

Abstract: Cognitive deficits are undesirable effects of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). This article reviews the cognitive impairments associated with ECT, with an emphasis on linguistic information processing and memory dysfunction. Factors that may have an impact on the cognitive effects of ECT are discussed, along with recommendations for clinical interventions to aid in the treatment of these effects.
