Depression and Spiritual Growth
K. EPILOGUE
I would like to offer one final observation: If anyone asked me if I
would volunteer to go through even a single day of 1986 or 1997 again,
I would firmly decline. And yet if someone offered me some magical
device that would allow me to reach back and change the events on the
"worst days" of those years, I wouldn't use it. As terrible
as they were, ultimately they made my life better. I wouldn't know what
to touch! It all taught me what I urgently needed to know. I learned a lot! About myself, other people, and life in general. I am much happier
these days than before. I have more to offer those around me. I feel
that I have been touched by Grace, and I am extremely grateful for that. I have an ever-growing sense of compassion.
I guess I would sum it all up with the following quote:
One cannot reach the dawn save by the path of night.
