Survival becomes a function of being social creatures. The question is, "How do I survive?" The answer is, "By avoiding injury." I use my boundaries and my detachment skills to survive. I ask for my needs to be met. Injury may be emotional or physical. Both elements of being human (emotional and physical) require attention in order to survive.

My injuries are emotional. Some of my injuries have healed. Some have not. I hope that by communing with nurturing people, I will heal by learning how to heal. I accept that healing is possible. I accept that healing over time is possible. I accept that I've been healing. I accept that healing hurts when exposed to an open environment. Old wounds require clean air to heal. My clean air is people who accept me as I am.
