Safety Tips for Children

SAFETY TIPS FOR

CHILDREN

My 10 Rules for Safety

  1. I will learn my address, phone number, and the name of my mon, dad, or guardian. I know how to dial 911.

  2. I will always stay close to my parents or guardians, they are my trusted adults. If I want to go somewhere, I will ask first, tell them where I am going and when I will be back.

  3. If I go anywhere, it is always better to go with a friend. My friend and I can help each other stay safe.

  4. I will not talk to strangers even if I'm with a friend. Adults should ask other adults to help them.

  5. If someone tries to touch me in ways that make me feel ucomfortable, I will tell them "no" or "stop, I don't like that." Yell-Run-Tell.

  6. I know it is never my fault if that happens. Run-Tell

  7. I will then go tell a trusted adult what happened. Even if they say to keep it a secret, I will tell and keep telling until someone helps me.

  8. If is never good for me to keep secrets from my 'trusted adults.' I will talk to them about my problems. It makes me feel bad to keep those secrets.

  9. My trusted adults can be my parents, guardian, or even someone else! They are the people in my life that care about me and want me to be safe.

  10. I deserve to be safe and happy because I am a very special person. I will practice these ten steps:

A Summary of Things You Can Do To Stay Safe

  • Learn my address and phone number
  • Check first with your parents before going anywhere
  • Never go anywhere by myself
  • Yell, Run, & Tell when someone frightens me
  • Never keep bad feelings a secret
