Child

By The Paul Field Band

Theirs is a child with tears in her eyes
Staring down the war torn street
The burned out tanks and empty shells
Lie all around her feet

Friend and family, home all gone, her world is torn apart
She pays for someone else's politics by the scars upon her heart
See this child with tears in her eyes

Theirs is a child with pain on his face
Looking out across the hills
The withered trees and hard-baked ground
Are silent, lifeless, still
His last meal long forgotten and his next may never come

Someone stole away his future, before his life begun
See this child with pain on his face

Chorus

Angels cry in Heaven tonight for the children of the world
The Kingdom's gates are open wide for every boy and girl
They're searching for a Saviour but who will show the way
So the children of tomorrow
Can find the Father's love today
There is a child with fear in its mind
In twisted dreams she's caught

Where love and hurt go side-by-side
And she feels it is all her fault
Because daddy said he loved, but he left her just the same
Her innocence lies shattered by confusion and by shame
See this child with fear in her mind

There is a child with hope in his heart
Through the tears and pain and fear
All because somebody told him, of the Kingdom always near
Because he knows the King , who gave up His heavenly throne
For little ones like these, because He loves them as His own

Angels cry in Heaven tonight for the children of the world
The Kingdom's gates are open wide for every boy and girl
Let them come, let them come, you can't stand in their way
These children of tomorrow need the Heavenly Fathers' love today
