Online Gaming and Natural Supplement May Eliminate Depression in Teenagers

Online communities are becoming a new way for teenagers to treat their depression.

Depression is a serious illness. Discover the importance of getting treatment for depression and the consequences if you don't.

(March 9, 2006) - Parents with teenagers battling against depression may have new hope in reaching and helping their child. A new approach to beating the blues has been launched in the form of online gaming. Now mixtures of cyber and natural treatments have been adopted by mental health experts in Australia.

“It's no replacement for counseling,” says psychologist Ann Wignall, “but it comes as close as an online tool can get to being a way to challenge ‘unhelpful beliefs’. Some (teenagers) may feel uncomfortable seeking a counselor or may simply be isolated,” she says, “and that's where an online service can bridge the gap.”

An Austrailian-based depression awareness service, beyondblue, reports “Depression and anxiety are the most common mental-health problems reported in young people, with 20 per cent of those surveyed experiencing depression by the time they reach 18.”

Parents need to know what they are dealing with so they can effectively manage or eliminate depression from their teenager's life forever. A Memphis TN Healthcare research facility has discovered a natural supplement, Welatonin, which is 93.7% successful in treating depression. Combining the natural supplement with the cyber element of online gaming may ensure that depression in teenagers may soon be eradicated.
