Questions & Answers:

Nausea..

Q: However i feel i need to get more help as it keeps resurfacing for no particular reason.. It is not too bad but I can't eat due to nausea , for a few days sometimes. I take maxalon (anti-nausea tabs) but feel awful. <The therapist's> stuff really can't help with that sort of thing. I am losing weight and feel this needs to be addressed. Any ideas ? Nutritionist perhaps ?

A: It doesn't resurface for no particular reason! Hasn't <the therapist> taught you about your thinking and how this creates 99% of the problem if you have panic disorder or 100% if you one of the other anxiety disorders? Also haven't you been taught to understand your setbacks? We all need to understand this in great detail. It is this understanding which prevents future relapses even if you do have a panic attack or a burst of high anxiety.

In regards to the nausea. I had this symptom also, in fact it was the last symptom to go. I used Maxalon, but I also knew that if I didn't eat I was much more vulnerable in getting caught up in my old thinking patterns and I was much more vulnerable to dissociation (that is the other 1% of panic disorder see above) , panic attacks and the resulting anxiety. I ate six small high protein meals a day. If it got too hard I would eat a high protein soup and/or use powered Sustegan ( I can't spell it). I also used to drink Woodroofe's Lemonade, that is the best one for nausea.

Some people say peppermint tea can really help this as well. There is also an acupressure point into between your thumb and finger. If you can find it, just apply pressure and the nausea can disappear.

I finally learned to let the nausea just be there. If I was feeling sick, then I was feeling sick, why worry about it! So what! It finally disappeared.
