One more nice tool is guided meditation. I would recommend taping this on your own
using a soft, soothing voice. Go pretty slowly as you want to be totally relaxed when
listening to this. Sit in a very comfortable chair, alert, and relaxed.
Close your eyes and take 5 deep relaxing breaths... from way in.. to way out. With each
inhaling, you breath in all the loving peaceful energy that surrounds you, with each
exhaling, release all tensions, troubles and stresses. Now I want you to visualize,
picture, feel or imagine...
You see in front of you a beautiful garden staircase with ten steps... You are about to
go up the staircase and with each step, you will be nearer to your higher consciousness.
Walk toward the staircase and start walking up the staircase.... (wait about 10 seconds)
When you get to the top, you see a beautiful outdoor garden filled with sunshine, a
fountain, flowers, trees, and some people sitting on a bench under the shade of a tree. I
want you to notice that there is a single chair by the fountain, go over and sit in the
chair. Hear the water in the fountain and feel the warmth of the sun on your face as you
close your eyes. Feel the extreme love all around you....(wait 10 seconds) Let it fill you
from the top of your head to the tips of your toes....(wait 10 seconds). Now bask in the
joy of love for a little while.... (wait 10 seconds) Now with your minds eye, I want you
to see or feel the presence of God filling up inside of you... (wait 10 seconds). There
are no judgments here, God loves you and knows you are perfect. God also knows whatever
device it is that you use to hurt yourself. God knows the harsh judgments that you have
chosen as your special dysfunction, whether it be a lack of self love, or an unfulfilled
passion. If you are ready to release this dysfunction and accept it with no harsh
judgments, accept all of yourself as whole, make this known now, in the presence of God.
Bask in the glory of God who is love for a while longer....( wait about 20 seconds) Thank
God for the gift you have just received. Notice a large tree in the garden with two people
sitting on a bench under the tree.
These people are your guides and have something to tell you. Walk over to them, they
have been expecting you... If you have a direct question to ask them, this is the time to
do so. If not, ask what they have to tell you.... (wait about 30 seconds) Thank them and
observe that God is in everything you can see, touch, and sense. Recognize that you are a
part of God and without you, God is incomplete. Turn toward the staircase and remember to
take with you that which you were just told by your guides. Walk over to the staircase and
descend the beautiful staircase....(wait about 10 seconds)
Walk back over to your body in the chair. I am going to count to five, when I reach
five, you will be wide awake, back in your body and in your normal daily consciousness.
One...Two...Three...Four, almost there, .Five, wide awake and feeling fine.
Take a few moments to gather your thoughts before you stand up.
This is only one short guided meditation, there are many books and tapes on guided
imagery that you can get at your local library or bookstore.
I hope this workshop has been useful, I would appreciate any feedback at all regarding
the workshop. Please be honest as I am planning on using it to help many people.
