Saucy's Plea

Why can’t you love me,
Why does no one care?
My heart cries out for tender love
But there’s none anywhere.

Is it because I’m not pretty like Carol
Or funny like Rose?
Is it because I’m much too fat
Or maybe my big nose?

Is it because I’m not very good
I’ll try real hard you know?
I’ll do all that you tell me
Only let what you want show.

All I ask is that you love me,
Hold me close and tight;
Tell me that I’m special
Even if only in your sight.

Without that, life’s not worth living
The pain’s too much to bear—
Oh if love were but for the asking
If you could only care.
