Until now the Abilify tablets have been available in several higher dose levels. The company said the lower, 2 milligram dose will allow physicians to bring patients to their optimum dose more easily.

The nonrefrigerated Abilify oral solution will allow greater convenience for adult patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets, the company said. Bristol-Myers is partnering with Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. of Japan to develop and commercialize the drug in the U.S. and Europe.
