Borderline Personality Disorder - BPD faqs

Question:

Hi is Effexor helpful in dealing with bpd. also what other medications are helpful . Also is it possible to get married and have children or will they get bpd? Just wondering because I have bpd and would like to get married someday.

2nd letter: Hi I have bpd. last September I started going to a skills training classes for bpd. Are therapists used the book by Marsha Lineman. My question is why do I get bored with my jobs. I realize that the majority of it is because I am not doing what I really enjoy doing which is acting. I love acting (Drama). But getting into acting is so difficult. any suggestions

Answer:

There is no reason borderlines should abandon having children. The risk is 50/50. Parents with the BPD need to take responsibility for becoming healthy parents, however - never looking for children to give them the love they lack themselves. Getting the children's diagnoses treated is also an excellent idea.

Effexor helps some but side effects limit it's use since extraordinarily high doses are needed.

I recommend you get all your diagnoses made and treated thoroughly.

Listen to Zig Ziglar's tapes until you have them mastered. The book "Are you the one for me" by Barbara DeAngelis is a great book that can help you learn who to look for and who you need to be.
