Cool Summer Fun
Wet Outdoor Games: A few suggestions for what to
do with the young children midway through summer
vacation.
- Storm
This is a game with the water sprinkler.
Turn on the sprinkler low. One person stands
by the faucet. Everyone else is a ship at
sea. Small, old towels are placed around the
sprinkler -- one less than the
"ships". The ships start by
sailing around the sprinkler. When the
faucet person yells "STORM", all
the ships try to get to a towel island. The
one left out at sea becomes the next
faucet-person.
- Empty the Bucket
This is a race requiring each player to
empty a bucket with a sponge. On the word
"go", each person dunks his or her
sponge and squeezes it over their own head.
The person to empty their bucket first by
dunking and squeezing wins.
On your mark, get wet, dress!
This game requires four pieces of old
clothing and a bucket of water for each
contestant. The clothing is dunked in the
water and the race is to see who can get
wet-dressed first.
- Heads Up
This is a race requiring only a paper cup
full of water for each person. The cups are
balanced on top of the head and the race
begins.
