Say How You Feelhomepage |
![]() Your healthcare provider may reconsider your treatment options You are not alone. Many people with bipolar depression don't know that they have it. That's because they only report depression. Nearly half of all patients who have bipolar depression will first be diagnosed with depression only. Why? Say how you've been feelingThe reason may be because patients don't always talk with their healthcare providers about all the symptoms they're experiencing. For example, patients may tell their healthcare providers about the times they've felt depressed - that's when they feel bad and are looking for relief. They may not talk about the times when they've felt "high" or energetic. In fact, patients often think about these times as their "good times" or "normal times." Without having all of the information, it is difficult for a healthcare provider to make the correct diagnosis. Remember: Your healthcare provider needs you to say how you've been feeling; to talk about the times when you've been "high" and when you've been "low." This will help make it easier for a correct diagnosis.
