Everything you ought to know about ECT.

The ECT Frequently Asked Questions from the Committee for Truth in Psychiatry.

My buddy Cal's great website on all sorts of stuff. Another pissed off survivor of shock therapy, Cal has turned to poetry to express his outrage. It's excellent work. Great info on ECT, too, among other things. Check out the quotes section!

Check out the CyberSuite, a virtual office by Dr. John Friedberg, neurologist. Lots o' cool stuff, including articles on ECT.

Is there such a thing as compassionate ECT, or is that an oxymoron? This site is nice, with a lovely essay on the author's life with depression. He seems to understand the need for understanding and kindness from psychiatry, but I'm not quite sure that ECT is a proper substitute for Santa Claus. He wants to make ECT: compassionate, non-mysterious, warm, friendly, and family-involved. (Read about his sexcapades with a patient!) Videos for $ale. Read a blasting review of his video. Sorry, it seems Chris has disappeared for the time being - maybe the reports of his sex life and teddy bears were too much.

ECT Online...Dr. Carl Littlejohns has put together a fairly balanced page, including links to "alternative" views. That's fair, although he *does* say those ideas are "misinformed." A round of applause, however, for acknowledging the other side. He also has a tutorial on ECT, although it's PC only. Therefore, I haven't reviewed it. (I have a brand spanking, state-of-the-art super-dooper computer now, which will run all platforms...I'll get it reviewed asap!)

The Dendron website from Support Coalition will dazzle you, not only with its fun presentation (you'll need a browser that supports frames), but with the incredible array of hard-hitting information! Don't miss the Heal Normality message area!

Dr. Peter Breggin and Ginger Breggin, authors of many books, have a new website: Center for Study of Psychiatry and Psychology.

John Breeding has some wonderful information about ECT, including a very comprehensive informed consent document. Don't miss this excellent site!

KEN (Knowledge Exchange Network) has added some great new features to their extensive site: a newsroom, kids' area, Spanish language and more!

If you're interested in what patients have to say about their experiences, don't miss psychee.com's extensive collection of personal stories.
