SAFELINE"The Silent Scream"
This book has been written as a resource for those who have been sexually abused as children and their helpers and caregivers. The women who contributed to this book wrote their poems and experiences as a part of their therapy with trained mental health professionals. Some women worked alone with a professional and others belonged to an adult survivors group. They want others to learn from their experience and begin to understand the feelings involved in recovery from abuse and for other women to realize that they are not alone. If you, or someone that you know, has endured sexual abuse, you will know that it is accompanied by difficult, sometimes overwhelming emotions. Being abused often makes you feel different from other people, you may feel unsafe and alone, scared, sad or angry. The healing process requires that you have a network of safe, protective and caring people who will give you support when dealing with your abuse issues. These people may be friends, family, therapists and other mental health professionals or if possible, other survivors of sexual abuse. You may want to read this book when you have someone with you to support you and help you to deal with feelings that may arise. At the end of the book you will find details of resources available for survivors. You may obtain the book by sending a check for £4.95p plus 50p, p&p, or $10 U.S., made payable to SAFELINE, King Tom House, 39b, High Street, Warwick CV34 4AX. UK.
