About Life with ADD
The People Inside of Us
Who knows those people inside of us
The ones that no one ever sees
The ones we see in dreams sometimes
Or in impulses unbridled by our intellect.
That risk taker that lives inside our dreams
That moved us that day we took our first leap out of a plane
Or lead us to the edge of the slope
for our first wild skiing run down the steep twisting path
And what of the mind-side that quietly
expresses our real feeling about being hurt by,
a person who meant so much to us but who didn't know
because we were so afraid of rejection we couldn't say our feelings to them.
And what of the raging animal inside of us that
bellowed at the gas station attendant as if he were the
true cause of all our problems and not just
a victim of our rage.
Then there is the clever side that fixes all the toys that
lay broken with our children's friends just waiting for
our clever hands and patient minds to
take the time to return the pieces to their places.
Who can see the angry side, our rage released when the football
players collide and twist and bang and break their
body parts, much to our joy and delight since they
deserve it and are well paid for their pain
Or the excitement we feel when Indiana Jones finds the Lost Arc
that we know we would find if we only had the time and were
not so logical and afraid to take a risk as our
thinkers tied to nine to five's and structured lives
And so it goes inside ourselves are many people many souls
a great variety of us it takes to keep our very lives in check
and so with pride we can behold all types and ways our souls divide
as different sides to keep us whole and balanced in the ways we grow.
