Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD) Behaviors

WHAT IS ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER?

OK'd for distribution or posting on other internet sites, but send me a note or e-mail so I know that you are using it, OK? Also no changing of the content without my permission, thanks. You can send me a note at ledingham@aol.com

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Attention Deficit Disorder Residual, belong to a class of learning challenges currently recognized by health care professionals all over the world.

These conditions all affect a person's ability to process information, retain what is seen and heard, and control impulsive behaviors.

While such behaviors certainly make it difficult for an individual to succeed, it is not impossible. Some very famous people have had ADD, among them are Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein.

As you learn about ADD, I hope not only that you will discover what constitutes compensation techniques for dealing with Attention Deficit Disorder, but also that you will learn about the possibilities for success available to people with the ADD challenge.

All people have many of the behaviors that go along with Attention Deficit Disorder. We all forget sometimes, we may be late on occasion, we may miss part of a conversation, we may do or say something impulsive or inappropriate and later regret it; this is part of life. The difference for people having ADD is that these behaviors do not happen occasionally, but on a regular basis.

There are usually many areas of life impacted by ADD behaviors. When ADD remains untreated, the continued ADD behaviors can have a substantial negative impact on the individual's life.

The untreated ADD adult usually struggles with routine tasks like balancing a checkbook; paying bills; remembering meetings, birthdays, names, or where the car keys are. Because of this difficulty managing such basic situations, the undiagnosed or untreated ADD adult readily gives up goals for a desired career or level of education, or even marriage and a family .

Attention Deficit Disorder left untreated into adult hood can create emotional scars that may fully heal. The decisions you make today to do whatever you can to help an ADD challenged child or friend or even a spouse who is living with ADD could have a major, positive impact on someone else's life as well as your own.

I encourage you to make the commitment to learn al you can about ADD. This knowledge could ultimately greatly influence the success of another person. To do nothing when you know you can help may continue that person's pattern of failure and low self-esteem.
